Who we are

Center for Alternative Development Trust

Center for Alternative Development Trust (CADT) is a research-driven development organization in Bangladesh. It aims to explore value-based knowledge and skills to devise human and social progress in line with the national and community development agenda.

CADT is established and patronized by a group of philanthropists, activists and reputed corporate houses in response to a greater societal responsibility. Our most valuable asset is a research-driven approach to seek knowledge and skills, and to innovate new applications that address inhumanity, underdevelopment and poverty.

Chairperson's Message

We are living through an unprecedented moment in time, but what gives me hope is our equally unprecedented commitment to responding to the needs of our community. Philanthropy is a part of our history, and we have witnessed compassion for each other in every sphere of our hard times. CADT has emerged to extend this legacy in response to society at large.

While the needs and the incredible potential of our community have never been greater, every day we see the impact of our stakeholders' generosity and contributions. The lasting, impactful change we want to see will take time. That is why CADT invests for the long term β€” working through integrated initiatives and managing our total impact as a community-led organization.

“Is there any reward for goodness except goodness? So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny?” β€” Surah Ar-Rahman, 55:60–61

Executive Director's Message

The history of humankind is nothing but a saga of helping each other. One of the significant parts of responsibility in Islam is our responsibility towards other people in our lives. Being part of society, every individual should do something in return for what he or she gains from others.

“You are the best community ever raised for humanity β€” you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah…” β€” Surah Al-i-Imran, 3:110

The increasing complexity of human lives and global issues places a greater burden on our society; these problems cannot be solved by relying on individual efforts alone. CADT is developing a network of communities and stakeholders to solve the actual problems that confront our society on the ground. We know from experience that bringing people together creates synergies.
